This past August my dad and I attended the Indian Uprising in Crystal Lake, Illinois. It’s always been a great event with plenty of beautiful Pontiacs in attendance. This year local hobbyist, Teri Reed invited us to join her and a group of friends in a Firebird cruise that Saturday morning. And what a treat it was!

How A "Piece" of Mac McKellar And Pontiac History Found Me...
Pontiac, personal story, SD-4555 CommentsI find Pontiac’s 1973 Press Preview among the Division’s most interesting events ever. It’s there that the Super Duty 455 was introduced the motoring world. A performance bombshell while others were shying away from it, every magazine writer in attendance that reported their take on the SD-455 in their respective publications. Mac McKellar—arguably Pontiac’s most famous engineer and a man I greatly admire—was at there that day and I was recently gifted his personal nametag.

Pontiac's Tiger-themed Marketing Campaign-When Did It Start?
Pontiac3 CommentsWhile sorting through vintage photos in my collection searching for a specific image, I happen across a 1965 GTO decorated with tiger stripes, a tiger tail, and a sign on the passenger side door that read “Test Drive This Tiger at Delta Pontiac.” As I stared at the black-and-white print, I started thinking about Pontiac’s Tiger-themed marketing campaign, which it heavily promoted during the mid-1960s. But when did Pontiac actually begin using tiger references in its advertisements? Do you know?
Did Pontiac Repurpose a Leftover 1972 455 H.O. Block?
Pontiac10 CommentsI was contacted by the owner of code-ZE 455 who questioned its true origin because of someone’s handiwork with a grinder. We seemingly determined that the ZE-code 455 was originally assembled as a WD-code 455 H.O. during the 1972 model year, and was then re-purposed for 1973 when it was leftover from the strike-shortened 1972 model year. Does that seem far fetched? You be the judge!
