While sorting through vintage photos in my collection searching for a specific image, I happen across a 1965 GTO decorated with tiger stripes, a tiger tail, and a sign on the passenger side door that read “Test Drive This Tiger at Delta Pontiac.” As I stared at the black-and-white print, I started thinking about Pontiac’s Tiger-themed marketing campaign, which it heavily promoted during the mid-1960s. But when did Pontiac actually begin using tiger references in its advertisements? Do you know?
Did Pontiac Repurpose a Leftover 1972 455 H.O. Block?
Pontiac10 CommentsI was contacted by the owner of code-ZE 455 who questioned its true origin because of someone’s handiwork with a grinder. We seemingly determined that the ZE-code 455 was originally assembled as a WD-code 455 H.O. during the 1972 model year, and was then re-purposed for 1973 when it was leftover from the strike-shortened 1972 model year. Does that seem far fetched? You be the judge!

Pontiac12 CommentsGM's Infamous Racing Ban of 1963
5 CommentsRead any book or article about General Motors during the early ‘60s and it inevitably will mention the corporation’s infamous racing ban of 1963. It’s generally accepted that action was a simple solution to GM’s fearfulness of being broken up over antitrust concerns. There really hasn’t been conclusive evidence to completely support that, however.
Pontiacs That Are Daily Driven Today...
personal story, Pontiac1 CommentI drove a vintage Pontiac every day for many years of my life. As we grow older, have families, and appreciate technology (both convenience and efficiency), the reliability and improved fuel economy associated with modern vehicles tends to overtake the practicality of driving vintage vehicles on a daily basis. For the nostalgic bunch like me, few feelings are more satisfying than the experience of stepping back in time.

Exploring The Canadian-built Pontiacs...
12 CommentsOne aspect of Pontiac history I admittedly had no real working knowledge of was the unique Canadian-built Pontiacs with Chevrolet engines. Yes, I knew these vehicles existed and have even looked at a great many of them at the various Pontiacs events I’ve attended over the years. My naivety toward them wasn’t scornfulness, however. I guess maybe I considered them sort of an anomaly and figured I would learn more about when I had the time.
